Netflix makes new edition of “Oggy and the Cockroaches” – but fans will be disappointed
In Germany, the French animated series “Oggy and the Cockroaches” primarily ran on Super RTL. Now the streaming giant Netflix is planning a CGI remake of the show as the first French-house production.
Many children have grown up with them, the blue cat Oggy, its green cousin Jack and their eternal tormentors – the three naughty cockroaches Joey, Marky and Dee Dee. The pranks of vermin brought not only the two cats to whine, but also every empathetic viewers.
As Deadline reports, Netflix is now planning 21 years after the First aired a CGI remake of the successful animated series “Oggy and the Cockroaches”. This country broadcast first on ProSieben, then on Super RTL cult series was originally conceived by the French animation studio Xilam, which now will also produce the remake. It would be the first Netflix original from France.

In addition to the 3D design Netflix ‘to “Oggy and the Cockroaches” still differ from the original in some other things. Thus, the 1998 d arte range, with its 494 episodes especially for slapstick humor and brawls known – clearly represented by noise and injuries, even if the camera mostly turned away from graphic violence itself.
The Netflix remake “Oggy, Oggy” should, however, aimed at children between two and six years. Violent fights it will therefore probably be no more. Also, the premise of the series a completely different: Oggy is represented as a child, lives freed from the cockroaches in a peaceful neighborhood and experiences with other small cats exciting adventures.

In Germany, the otherwise nearly silent series has to have a narrator the particularity to comment on the events similar to the Pink Panther in rhyme. When this narrator here acted the 2012 deceased Dirk Bach Planet Watching. Whether the new show at the German will be implemented in such a way is not known.
