New on DVD

We had to wait seven years for the new animated XMOVIES8 by the “Monster Uni” maker – and then “Onward: No half measures” disappeared from the cinemas after a short time due to Corona. Now the film is finally available on DVD and Blu-ray.

Pixar has produced 22 films since its cinema debut in 1995 (“Toy Story”) – you can currently find 21 of them on Disney *. For the time being, however, you won’t find the latest animated film from the family-friendly hit maker on the mouse company’s own streaming platform.

“Onward: No half measures” was released in German cinemas on March 5, 2020, shortly before the corona pandemic caused the cinemas to be generally closed. Disney responded and released the fantasy fun early on May 22 as video-on-demand *. Those who prefer to have their films on the shelf will also be served from today:

This is “Onward: No half measures”

The world used to be full of magic. But with increasing technological progress, it disappeared more and more from our everyday life. When the two elf brothers Ian (voice in the original: Tom Holland) and Barley Lightfoot (Chris Pratt) finally have their 16th birthday behind them, the magic is about to return to the Lightfoot household.

The mother of the two (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) gives the boys a gift from their dead father (Kyle Bornheimer) – a mysterious stick with which the brothers can bring their father back to the realm of the living for a day. But the magic goes wrong, and so the two suddenly stand with their father’s lower body …

Animation fun also in 3D

While it should only be a matter of time before “Onward” lands on Disney (with “Toy Story 4” it took almost eight months), the streaming platform only serves those Disney fans who 2D is sufficient. But the 3D fans have also been thought of:

And it is not entirely natural that Disney will release “Onward” on 3D Blu-ray. Because even if the trend of three-dimensional images is on the decline again, the 3D adventures still have a loyal following. While Disney recently only released selected 3D films for home theater in 2D (“Chaos on the Net”, “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms”), fans of the third dimension will get their money’s worth with “Onward”.
