The robot has just been presented in a laboratory in Shenzhen city. Jamoca has successfully passed a series of difficult tests that all machines of this type must pass. The Robo-Dog is doing quite well and in this matter is not inferior to its competition, not only from China itself, but also South Korea, Japan and the United States.

The quadruped is 1 meter long, 50 cm wide, 75 cm high and weighs 70 kilograms. It has been equipped with autonomous technologies, a LiDAR laser system and several cameras that allow him to orientate himself in space and map it in real time, to be able to move around it faster and Moviesider efficiently. It is worth noting, however, that the SpaceX space system has already delivered astronauts to the ISS, and this took place in May this year, when NASA astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley went into space on the Demo-2 mission. After this successful trial, NASA and SpaceX sat down to schedule routine missions to the International Space Station - the first one fell out last month, but was postponed due to a problem on the transport platform.

New research aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy is showing remarkable results, with scientists announcing that this is just the beginning. It all started when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) decided to give the green light to research into its positive effects on people suffering from depression, although this substance is clearly associated with the famous magic mushrooms that are able to change the perception of the world by the consuming person - time, space, colors or sound, or induce visual hallucinations.

Research on psilocybin focuses on major depressive disorder (MDD), i.e., depression that is refractory to other treatments, i.e. patients who have not responded positively to at least 2 different pharmaceutical antidepressants during the current depressive episode. This is very common and according to estimates, up to 300 million people around the world struggle with it. Today, however, we can see the results of the first tests showing its actual Hollywood Thinker not in the laboratory, but in actual patients. The researchers started with a small group of 24 patients who had at least 2 years of documented history of depression. Before the studies, they had to discontinue their previous therapies, and the level of their depression was assessed according to the standard GRID-Hamilton Depression Rating Scale, where a score above 24 points means severe depression - at the beginning of the study the average group score was 23 points.

Each patient received two doses of psilocybin two weeks apart, and also attended psychotherapy. After these 4 weeks, the re-test of the group assessing the level of depression gave a result of 8, which is literally on the border of being considered depressed at all, and more than half of the group were considered patients in remission. This is even more important because in the case of classic therapy, drugs often take weeks or months to work effectively. Of course, these studies have their limitations - the trial was small, no placebo group was created, and we also don't know the long-term effects / effects of the treatment, so more testing is certainly needed, but it looks like a light at the end of the tunnel for many patients.

Because when they are activated by light, they transmit the stimulus to further areas of the nervous system, where it is analyzed. In higher organisms, there is talk of the visual path transmitting information to the visual cortex. Unfortunately, photoreceptors are damaged in many eye diseases, such as retinitis pigmentosa and age-related macular degeneration, and while the other vision mechanisms are working, the patient loses his sight.

Therefore, in this new study, scientists tried to bypass photoreceptors and activate neurons directly, and to do so, they had to act with a gene called MC01, which expresses opsins, a group of photosensitive G-protein coupled membrane receptors in photoreceptors and bipolar neurons . As the authors suggest, the beauty of this strategy is its simplicity, and what's more, adding the MCO1 gene to bipolar neurons in the retina with defective photoreceptors is done with one injection into the eye.

Scientists tested their solution in mice with damaged retina that did not respond to light at all. After treatment, the mice quickly regained light sensitivity and retinal function, as confirmed by numerous tests, such as navigating mazes and responding to changes in movement. The level of MCO1 in bipolar neurons remained high for six months after the injection, and most importantly, it did not change the levels of other proteins, i.e. it did not cause side effects, and there were no signs of inflammation in the tissue or blood.

And while the results are promising, there is a small catch here, namely, until we do human testing, we won't know exactly if such restored vision will work as effectively as normal vision, but even partial vision should still be better than total blindness. .
